Crypto traders often argue about whether technical analysis or fundamental analysis is more useful, but in practice I think both answer different questions.
Technical analysis is useful for understanding when the market may be offering an opportunity. Price structure, support and resistance, volume, trend direction and momentum can help with timing entries and exits. Even if a project has strong fundamentals, buying into an extended move at the wrong moment can still lead to a poor trade.
Fundamental analysis is more about understanding what you are buying and why the market may eventually value it differently. For Bitcoin, that can include adoption, network activity, institutional demand and macro conditions. For altcoins, fundamentals may involve developer activity, tokenomics, revenue, ecosystem growth, decentralization and actual usage.
The problem is that crypto markets can ignore fundamentals for a long time. A technically strong asset with weak fundamentals can rally aggressively during speculative periods, while a fundamentally solid project can remain undervalued for months.
That is why I find the combination more useful than treating them as competing approaches. Fundamentals can help identify assets worth following, while technical analysis can help determine whether the current price structure offers a reasonable entry.
Time horizon also changes the answer. A short-term trader may care much more about liquidity, volume and price action. A long-term investor probably needs to understand token supply, adoption, competitive positioning and whether the project can survive another full market cycle.
There is also a danger in overcomplicating both approaches. Technical traders can end up using too many indicators, while fundamental investors can build impressive-looking models around assumptions that never translate into real demand.
