Solana has attracted a huge number of new tokens and applications, but separating projects with real products from short-lived speculation is becoming increasingly difficult.

A high token price or large social media following does not necessarily mean a project has created something useful. When I look at the Solana ecosystem, I am more interested in applications that people continue using even when there is no major token incentive or speculative narrative driving attention.

DeFi is one obvious area. Solana now has decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, liquid staking services and trading infrastructure processing meaningful amounts of activity. The strongest projects, in my opinion, are the ones where users return because the product itself is fast, inexpensive or genuinely useful rather than simply because rewards are being distributed.

Payments are another interesting category. Solana’s low transaction costs make the network technically suitable for payments, stablecoin transfers and other high-frequency financial activity. If applications can make those transactions simple enough for users who know nothing about blockchain infrastructure, that could become a much more important use case than speculative token trading.

I am also watching consumer-facing products. Wallets, mobile applications, marketplaces and other services could potentially bring users into Solana without requiring them to understand validators, RPC infrastructure or smart contracts. That kind of abstraction seems essential if blockchain applications are ever going to reach a broader audience.

Infrastructure projects deserve attention as well. RPC providers, developer tools, data services, validator infrastructure and APIs may not generate the same excitement as a new token launch, but they are critical for keeping the ecosystem usable as it grows.

The challenge is measuring genuine adoption. Transaction counts can be inflated by bots, trading volume can be driven by speculation, and total value locked can move rapidly between protocols. I would rather see persistent users, organic fees, growing liquidity and developers continuing to build over several market cycles.

Which Solana projects do you think are actually creating useful products rather than relying mainly on token speculation?

Are you seeing the strongest development in DeFi, payments, wallets, consumer apps, trading infrastructure or developer tools?

And what metric do you use to decide whether a Solana application has real adoption — active users, revenue, fees, liquidity, transaction volume or something else?
