For me, withdrawal reliability is one of the most important ways to judge a crypto exchange. Trading fees and interface quality matter, but they become secondary if users cannot move their assets when they want to.
A good exchange should make withdrawals predictable. That means clear processing times, transparent limits, accurate network fees and no unexpected restrictions once funds are already deposited.
The biggest red flag is inconsistent withdrawal behavior. If users regularly report delayed transfers, repeated verification requests or unexplained account reviews only after trying to withdraw, that raises serious questions about the platform’s internal controls and liquidity management.
Network support also matters. Some exchanges technically support many assets but only allow withdrawals through a limited number of blockchains. During congestion or maintenance, that can leave users with fewer options than expected.
I also pay attention to how exchanges communicate during maintenance. Temporary withdrawal pauses can happen for legitimate reasons, especially during wallet upgrades or blockchain issues. The difference is whether the platform explains what is happening, gives a realistic timeframe and restores normal service without changing the conditions.
Withdrawal limits are another factor. High-volume traders and long-term holders may have very different needs, so I would rather know the exact daily and monthly limits before depositing significant funds.
Security checks are important too, but they should be proportional. Two-factor authentication, withdrawal address allowlists and confirmation steps are useful. Requiring unpredictable additional procedures every time funds leave the platform can become a usability problem.
For larger balances, I think it is also worth testing an exchange with a smaller withdrawal first. A smooth deposit does not prove that the withdrawal process will be equally reliable.

What matters most to you — processing speed, withdrawal limits, supported networks, fees, security checks or customer support when something goes wrong?
And have you ever stopped using an exchange specifically because of withdrawal delays or restrictions?
