I'd say start with something easy like MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet so you get comfortable with sending/receiving crypto. Once you've got the basics down and hold more value, definitely move to a hardware wallet for long-term security.

Hey y'all - if I just want to buy some BTC and hold it, should I go with a cold wallet right away or start with something like Trust Wallet first? 🤔

(Also... is buying on PayPal a bad idea?)

Don't try to learn everything at once. Pick 1 topic (wallets, exchanges, or security) and go deep before jumping to the next.

When I was starting out, the most confusing part was understanding the difference between tokens and coins.

🔹 Coins (like BTC or ETH) usually live on their own blockchain.
🔸 Tokens (like USDT, LINK) run on top of another blockchain (like Ethereum or Solana).

Also, if you're buying for the first time:
  • Use a well-known exchange (Kraken, Coinbase, WhiteBit)
  • Always enable 2FA right away
  • Start with small amounts until you get comfortable

I made the mistake of aping into a memecoin early on and learned the hard way about exit scams 😅

Happy to answer more beginner Qs. We all started somewhere!
